The Beginning of a New Chapter

Want to Know How it All Started?

When introducing myself I always write that I am the CEO of Edwags, first. Edwags was my first entrepreneurial project and just a few months ago we celebrated the first anniversary. But the story of Edwags goes back further than the year 2018. To truly understand where I am coming from let’s go back to the beginning.  Now when it comes to practically working on the business, I started during my last year in Australia. I gave myself 6 – 8 months, with a strict routine, in isolation, to generate the revenue that would be needed for my entrepreneurial debut. You could say that even back in school, I knew I was going to do something big. I was never much interested in studying. After this, I went to Australia, where I spent ten years of my life. Within the first six months to a year, I knew this was not my final destination. In those years I entered the world of sales and later did a degree in architecture. I got married and at this time everything came together. My years in sales helped with my business, and my degree helped me figure out what my business should be about.

Why Pakistan?

Throughout my time in Australia, I never really felt as though I had left Pakistan. I visited almost twice or thrice in a year. So, my connection and affiliation were never affected. Pakistan was where I knew my business must start.

Once in Pakistan, a new challenge arose. Even though I had visited Pakistan quite often I was not as familiar as one would need for something like this. Initially, I was doing everything myself. The first employee I hired was the operational manager and then the business started from my drawing room with three employees. Next, I had to find an office location. I searched all over Lahore and finally settled for a building.

The next order of business was to register my company. When I went to the tax agent, he asked me what the name of the company was. While I had been busy running around, the name had not occurred to me. What I knew was that I had wanted to base it on a philosophy very close to my heart. It was that ‘every day I am getting stronger’, but now I wasn’t alone. I had a team and ‘I’ turned to ‘we’; every day we are getting stronger. That is the story behind Edwags.

The Value of Teamwork

I have always believed and known the value of teamwork. This has only been strengthened by my experience of Edwags, that together we are bigger, better and can achieve more.

Having said all that, now I must say that Edwags is only the beginning. I tell my employees when they first join that don’t think of this as a small company. I have big plans. We have started from Pakistan, but that in no way restricts us. I know that in ten years Edwags will be the biggest company of it’s kind in the world.

My life has not yet started. Much bigger things are on the way. And as I get there, I want to enjoy every part of the journey. I would advise every one of you to do the same. Be clear about what you think. Take your time with it. Visualize it. Then, no matter how small a step or humble a beginning, just go ahead with it. Here is how I started. With the right drive and team, anything is possible. My story is proof of that. Now just go get it!
